ADVISEN BRIEFING DETAILS SOX 404 COMPLIANCE,

RELEVANCE TO RISK MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENTS

Industry Research Report and Accompanying Risk Manager Survey

Highlight Differing Opinions on SOX 404

New York, August 14, 2007 – Advisen, Ltd., the leading provider of technology and data to the global commercial insurance industry, today published an industry research report entitled “SOX Appeal: Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 Compliance and the Risk Management Department.”

The 12-page Advisen Briefing provides information and insights on the impact of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 on risk managers. The report also includes results from a ten question industry survey of nearly 400 risk managers and other commercial insurance buyers. Survey topics included risk management participation in Section 404 compliance processes, Section 404 audits of risk management departments, and enterprise risk management activities sparked by Section 404 compliance requirements.

The findings show both a divide between many in the industry on how SOX Section 404 has affected the roles and responsibilities of risk managers, as well as a difference in opinion among auditors as to whether the traditional activities of the risk management department are material to Section 404 compliance.

Report author and Advisen Editor-in-Chief, Dave Bradford summarizes the report with the following:

A recent Advisen survey shows the impact of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on the roles and responsibilities of risk managers has varied widely among companies. While some companies have thoroughly integrated the risk management function into the Section 404 compliance process, risk managers at most companies are not actively involved in compliance activities outside their own department. However, it appears that risk managers of those companies that have integrated the risk management function into the Section 404 compliance process have experienced material benefits.”
